UNIC at the 40th meeting of the European Audiovisual Observatory Advisory Committee

UNIC was pleased to take part in the 40th meeting of the European Audiovisual Observatory (EAO) Advisory Committee, which took place on 16 March 2023 in Strasbourg, France.

The meeting was chaired by Pauline Durand-Vialle, CEO of the Federation of European Film Directors (FERA) and gathered 40 participants representing the film and audiovisual industry.

A general update on the activities of the Observatory was provided and included  an update on an upcoming IRIS plus report on “Fair Remuneration of Authors and Performers”, as well as the results of the consultation process.

This was followed by the presentation of the mid-term strategy (2024-2028) and the action plan for 2024 (including topics and reports to be covered by the Observatory). A dynamic discussion involving all members of the Advisory Committee then ensued.

As part of its mid-term strategy, the EAO plans to update its website to improve accessibility to public data. The new website will feature an easy-to-use interface that will enable all stakeholders to access relevant data with ease.

The EAO has underscored the significance of AI and green public funding, recognising them as key topics to be explored in greater depth.

Finally, the EAO announced the release of its new yearbook, which provides comprehensive data and insights into the latest trends and developments in the European audiovisual sector.
