UNIC at KINO 2024 in Baden-Baden

UNIC was delighted to attend KINO 2024 conference and trade show organised by HDF Kino e.V. on 15-18 April 2024.

Christine Berg, President of HDF and Vice-President of UNIC, delivered an opening speech on the resilience of the ever-changing cinema industry, and hoped for a better 2024 than initially predicted, with admissions hopefully reaching the 90M mark in Germany. She also recognised the support given by the German Film Fund (FFA) through the hard times the industry has been going through.

During a panel discussion on the film funding reform planned for January 2025, she firmly advocated for an increase of funds allocated to German cinemas through the German Film Fund (FFA).

Belgium was this year’s conference guest country, with Thierry Laermans, FCB presenting Belgian trends and the main topics that the association is fighting for, ahead of a panel including cinema exhibitors from both sides of the border and moderated Laura Houlgatte, UNIC.

Other presentations, panels and workshops included sustainability and minimum standards, film and green cinema funding, and audience insights. Along with a Trade show exhibiting 75 companies, KINO 2024 was a great event. More information here.

Huge congratulations to our colleagues at HDF Kino e.V. and hdfstudio!
