TELL US ABOUT YOUR DAILY HABITS THAT KEEP YOU INSPIRED AND MOTIVATED.
I tend to collect my thoughts early and reflect on what the day may hold. Focus on the one or two things which genuinely need attention, that should include what is important and not just what is urgent.
Take time to connect with individuals and savour the positivities - there will always be problems to resolve!
LOOKING BACK AT YOUR CAREER JOURNEY, WHAT ARE YOU THE PROUDEST OF?
Many parts of most roles have a touch of the mundane, the things you are required to deliver, consistently and effectively.
When you have, or indeed create, opportunities to go beyond, to approach things differently and to attain KPIs that exceed expectation that is rewarding and memorable.
Working within a trade association, those opportunities tend to come when you have built a common agenda or shared goals around the issues which matter. Once you have achieved that, you get to drive a collective belief and a chance to really make a difference in solving collective issues. That consensus exists within BASE and DEGI and it’s something I believe we are all proud of, a genuine belief that our collaboration will take us further, faster.
HAVING A DEMANDING ROLE, HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR WORK AND PERSONAL LIFE?
Finding balance between work and life is essential but there is no right and wrong as your personal needs and those of your role will be ever changing.
My journey on this one is not over but what I’ve learned, is to be conscious. Be aware of what you are giving and what the human cost of that is. If it’s working, great, if it’s not take control and make a change.
If you’re responsible for a team, be aware of the impact of your requests. Never assume colleagues will raise a flag if the pressure is getting too high so take time to connect and ensure you have a good read of the full environment.
