UNIC welcomes the European Parliament vote on the Audiovisual Media Services Directive

The International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), the European trade grouping representing cinema exhibitors and their national associations in 37 territories across the EU and beyond, welcomes the positive outcome of today's final vote on the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) in the European Parliament.

A total of 649 MEPs voted on the Directive with 452 MEPs in favor, 132 against and 65 abstentions. Please see the official Press Release here

In particular, we welcome the adoption of Article 13.2 concerning the financial contributions of all audiovisual media services, which represents an important step towards ensuring a level playing field across the industry, to the benefit of the entire film value-chain.
