UNIC Women’s Cinema Leadership Programme: Get-together before the UNIC Cinema Days

On 24 November, just before the UNIC Cinema Days, mentors and mentees of the UNIC Women’s Cinema Leadership Programme got together in Brussels to network and share experiences.

An inspiring video of past and current mentees of the programme

The UNIC Cinema Days once again served as a meeting point for our community of mentors and mentees, a few months after a first meeting celebrating the launch the sixth edition of the programme.

The session brought together participants from the current edition and was moderated by Monica Chadha, Independent Director.

The meeting was kicked off by Laura Houlgatte, UNIC who welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked the current sponsors of the programme IMAX and Vista Group.

UNIC also invited an inspirational speaker to talk about their leadership style and own path to success. We were incredibly lucky to have Yit-Ching Lee, VP EMEA International Marketing & Distribution, Paramount Pictures International, joining us to share her experiences and wisdom. It was fascinating to hear about her journey, her learnings, challenges and accomplishments along the way. Q&As followed the interview.

Afterwards, mentors and mentees of the sixth edition talked about their mentoring experience so far, with their dos and don’ts.

At the end of the meeting, Laure Galtier, UNIC explained the next steps of the programme, with some suggested mentoring exercises for the mentees, such as job shadowing and switch mentor month, to carry out as of January next year. The next informal meeting for participants of all editions will take place online on 21 December.

All in all it was another inspiring – and way too short – session. The next get-together of the group would take place in June at CineEurope 2023.

If you have any question about the programme or if you want to apply as a mentor or a mentee for the next 2023-2024 edition, please contact lgaltier@unic-cinemas.org.
