“CineEurope is honoured to present the 2026 Exhibitor of the Year Award to Multiplex,” said Andrew Sunshine, President of The Film Expo Group. “Under the leadership of CEO Roman Romanchuk, Multiplex has demonstrated exceptional resilience and commitment to the cinema sector, maintaining operations and continuing to invest in its circuit despite unprecedented challenges in Ukraine,” continued Andrew Sunshine.
Multiplex has played a vital role in sustaining cinema-going in Ukraine under extremely challenging circumstances, ensuring continued access to the big screen while reinforcing its position as the country’s leading exhibitor. The company has also contributed to strengthening the local film ecosystem through new distribution initiatives and the ongoing modernisation of its cinemas.
Welcoming today’s announcement, UNIC CEO Laura Houlgatte said:
“We are proud to honour Multiplex as the 2026 International Exhibitor of the Year at CineEurope. As Ukraine’s leading cinema operator, Multiplex has demonstrated exceptional leadership and resilience in the face of extraordinary challenges, maintaining and rebuilding its operations while continuing to serve audiences across the country. Their commitment is truly inspiring, and we very much look forward to celebrating their achievements in Barcelona.”
“I am truly deeply grateful and genuinely touched by this recognition. It means a lot to me personally and to the entire Multiplex team, especially given the context in which we have been operating over the past years. We see this not only as an award, but as a recognition of the resilience and commitment of our whole industry in Ukraine. It is a great honour for me to accept the International Exhibitor of the Year 2026 award on behalf of Multiplex” said Roman Romanchuk, CEO of Multiplex.
Multiplex is the leading cinema exhibition company in Ukraine, operating the largest network of cinemas across the country. Despite significant disruption caused by the war, the company has maintained and restored operations where possible, while continuing to invest in its sites and in the overall cinema experience.
The growth of its circuit in 2025 reflects a combination of reconstruction, project completion, acquisition and franchise reopenings. This includes the restoration of screens in a partially damaged cinema, the completion of a large-scale cinema project, the acquisition of the renowned Kyiv-based arthouse cinema Zhovten, and the reopening of several cinemas operated by franchise partners.
In addition to its exhibition activities, Multiplex has contributed to rebuilding the national film ecosystem through the launch of Green Light Films, Ukraine’s first fully national distribution initiative, to ensure continued access to a diverse film offering for local audiences.
