Giornate di Cinema 2021

It was a pleasure to be in Sorrento for the 44th edition of the Giornate di Cinema, the annual Italian cinema convention which gathers each year more than 1,500 participants.

Organised by our colleagues from ANEC -Associazione Nazionale Esercenti Cinema - the event spans over 4 days and gathers professionals from production, distribution, exhibition, press, technical sector, advertising and marketing, technical industries, film institutes, casting agencies and press agents, and cultural associations.

UNIC CEO Laura Houlgatte was invited to take part in a panel on Wednesday afternoon "Cinema 3.0 in the global market" together with  Simone Gialdini, CEO ANEC, Nicola Borrelli, Director General Cinema and Audiovisual, Ministry of Culture, Mario Lorini, President ANEC, Luigi Lonigro, President, Association of Distributors and Benedetto Habib, President, Association of Producers. They discussed about the future of cinemas post COVID-19, with a focus on audiences, innovation, film literacy and exportation of works. Laura brought a European perspective, shared information about funding, about the European Commission Media and AV Action Plan, and also on best practices across Europe. The event will lead to a series of workshop organized by ANEC on the future of cinemas.

On Wednesday evening, UNIC was invited to the Award Ceremony “Golden Tickets” where the Italian film industry and the city of Sorrento gathered to honour the best of the Italian film industry, including Laura Fumagalli from Arcadia Cinema.

Huge thanks and congratulations to the whole ANEC team for their fantastic convention and a presto!
