Describe your typical day at work
It is essential to stay fully connected every day to Yelmo's film and cinema data, as well as to the Spanish market and worldwide data, analysing all this information to understand current trends, prepare for the future, and make informed decisions.
Additionally, I believe my role is to help and support the company I work for in achieving its goals, to assist my colleagues and team, and to collaborate with other partners.
With this as my starting point, I must organise my schedule and time effectively to meet these objectives. There are moments for collaboration and moments for independent work.
Collaborative moments include weekly one-on-ones with my department’s managers to understand their needs and find solutions, meetings with other departments, engaging with distributors or watching their films, and dedicating time to the Spanish and Catalan Theater Owners' Associations.
Solitary moments are spent reading and responding to emails, reflecting on various challenges, reaching decisions, making phone calls, and staying informed about the industry as well as other relevant topics like politics and economics—because everything is connected.
The moment you fell in love with the Big Screen?
I think I’ve always been in love with the Big Screen. I still remember going to the movies with my brother and mother when I was little, then later as a teenager, walking up and down the Champs-Élysées with friends to find the best film, or celebrating La Fête du Cinéma as a student.
However, I never watched as many movies as I have since starting at Yelmo. I still remember my first interview with Ricardo Evole, the founder of Cine Yelmo—I had just looked at the cinema showtimes in the newspaper and counted how many films I’d seen up to that point: 23. I told myself I had to mention it to him.
The best thing about the cinema experience?
I’ve always loved those hours spent watching a film —when you immerse yourself and everything else, when nothing exists but the story, the characters, and you. That’s real magic. No matter your age, the feeling stays the same. You’re completely transported.
