Spanish Outreach Days – Brussels, 4–5 February 2026


On 4 and 5 February, UNIC welcomed representatives from Spain’s cinema sector to Brussels for a dedicated Outreach Day.

From Spain, Almudena Fernandez-Golfin (General Manager, FECE) and Jaime Tarrazón (International Delegate, FECE) joined UNIC CEO Laura Houlgatte, Communications & Policy Assistant Kamil Jarończyk, and Assistant Chiara Elisa Cuneo for a series of meetings with policy makers.

Discussions focused on the cultural, social, and economic importance of cinemas in Spain and across the EU. UNIC and FECE underlined the role of cinemas as community hubs and drivers of local culture, highlighting recent trends in admissions, the strength of domestic films, and the sector’s contribution to jobs and investment.

Key policy issues addressed included the safeguarding of theatrical exclusivity, territoriality of copyright, support for film and audiovisual works under the proposed MEDIA+ programme, and the fight against piracy. Participants also discussed the AVMSD and sustainability.
