Industry calendar

UNIC is involved in many industry events across Europe and globally, from the Cannes Film Festival to the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas. We also host the UNIC Cinema Days every year in Brussels to discuss recent trends and developments in the industry, and participate in a wide range of similar events organised by our partners. Please find below a list of major industry events in which we participate or that we organise during the year.

 

European Film Forums

The European Film Forum initiated by the European Commission in 2014 provides a space for a structured dialogue between the Commission and stakeholders in the audiovisual sector. The European Film Forums are held at important European film festivals and industry gatherings like Cannes, Sarajevo, Venice, San Sebastian and MIPCOM. 

UNIC EP Conference

UNIC organises a conference at the European Parliament in Brussels, bringing together key industry stakeholders and high-level policy makers to explore current trends and topics related to cinema exhibition. More information can be found on our website.

Berlinale

The Berlin International Film Festival was created in 1951 and has developed into a place of intercultural exchange and a platform for the critical cinematic exploration of social issues.

UK Cinema Association Conference

The event organised by the UKCA attracts over 400 professionals from across the cinema industry, including a wide range of UKCA members as well as colleagues from film distribution, screen advertising, technology maintenance and supply, retail etc. As such it also provides hugely valuable networking opportunities.

CinemaCon

CinemaCon is the Official Convention of The National Association of Theatre Owners ('NATO'). Since taking its first step in 2011, CinemaCon has evolved and grown to become one of the largest and most important gatherings for the worldwide motion picture theater industry. CinemaCon is truly a global event attracting attendees from more than 80 countries.

Kinokongress

The Kinokongress is the official convention of HDF Kino e.V., the German cinema operators' association. The first edition took place in 1971 in Baden-Baden, starting as a training event for cinema operators. It is now the biggest cinema industry event in Germany.

Festival de Cannes

The International Festival de Cannes is one of the world's most widely publicised events and certainly the most important film festival in terms of worldwide impact.

ICTA Barcelona Seminars

Every year, the International Cinema Technology Association ('ICTA') organises a seminar series in Barcelona, before and during CineEurope. This event gives cinema operators and manufacturers as well as service providers the opportunity to learn more about recent trends and developments in cinema technology. 

CineEurope

CineEurope is the official convention of UNIC and the biggest and longest-running convention dedicated to cinema operators in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Each summer, cinema owners, international film business professionals and key industry suppliers gather in the beautiful city of Barcelona to network and discover the latest industry trends. CineEurope features exclusive screenings and product presentations of upcoming films from both Hollywood studios and independent European film companies, sponsored events, timely and informative seminars and a cutting-edge trade show. More information on the convention is available on our website.

KVIFF

The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Czech Republic. It is one of the oldest A-list film festivals and one of the most prestigious film event in Central and Eastern Europe.

Venice International Film Festival

The Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia.

FNCF Congress

The French National Cinema Federation (FNCF) congress takes place every year in Deauville, France. This event is the largest get-together of French cinema operators and serves as an opportunity for them to network and hear about the latest trends, developments and upcoming films.

European Art Cinema Day

CICAE and Europa Cinemas have teamed up with more than 600 cinemas across the European Union to present a curated program including previews, children’s films and historical classics. With a wide variety of guests, events and exhibitions, the program will be as diverse as European Art Cinema itself. More information available on artcinemaday.org

UNIC Cinema Days

Each year in Brussels, the UNIC Cinema Days welcome an exclusive group of senior executives and key figures from across the European and international cinema landscape for an exciting two days of debates, workshops and social activities. The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for our members and partners to discuss the latest trends in the ever-changing cinema business in a trusted and informal environment and away from the distractions of a large industry convention. More information available on our website.

ShowEast

ShowEast takes places every year in Miami and draws a large contingency of Latin and South American delegates. The convention attracts industry professionals and features product presentations and screenings of major upcoming films, exclusive sponsored events, exciting and informative seminars and a trade show.

MENA Cinema Forum

The MENA Cinema Forum is the only largest cinema convention in the Middle East and North Africa region. The forum is designed to support the evolution of the industry through featuring the latest from global and regional content from leading studios, regional projects and plans, technological and technical advancements and best practices in next generation of customer experience and engagement, through a mixture of various mediums.

New Cinema Conference

Organised by the Dutch Exhibitors Association (NVBF), New Cinema highlights innovation in the field of digital cinema, both from the perspective of cinema exhibitors and film distributors, offering film professionals an excellent opportunity to increase their knowledge of digital cinema and together with colleagues strengthen their network in the sector. ECA Conference

The Event Cinema Association’s annual conference brings together an array of event cinema stakeholders from across Europe to engage on what more we can do to help better understand and grow this area of box office.

Europa Cinemas Network Conference

Europa Cinemas Network Conference gathers once every two years over 500 professionnals (network exhibitors, distributors, sales agents and representatives from cultural and political institutions) coming from more than 30 countries to discuss about film circulation and audience development in film theatres . 

Norwegian Cinema Conference

UNIC member Film & Kino organizes every year the Norwegian cinema conference, which addresses various issues related to the cinema industry. The conference brings together cinema managers, cinema employees, distributors and suppliers for several days of seminars and networking events.

EDCF Conference

The EDCF Conference serves as a unique opportunity to discuss the latest technology and business developments in Digital Cinema. The event brings together a group of cinema technology experts from across Europe and involves site visits and engaging workshops. 

PÖFF

Black Nights Film Festival (PÕFF – Pimedate Ööde Filmifestival) aims to present a comprehensive selection of world cinema to Estonian, Baltic and North European audiences.

Giornate di Cinema

The Giornate di Cinema is the annual gathering of Italian cinema industry professionals in Sorrento, organised by ANEC, the national association of cinema exhibitors, and ANICA, the association of distributors. 

CineAsia

CineAsia continues to be the best and most effective way to network and do business with theatre owners, managers, buyers, and operators from all over Asia. At CineAsia, attendees will get the chance to hear about the current trends and new state-of-the-art technologies in the motion picture industry.
