On 19 and 21 November, UNIC held a "Belgian Outreach Day", bringing together our Belgian members with MEPs to discuss key policy issues linked to the cinema industry. Representatives from all three linguistic regions of Belgium and various political groups engaged in discussions about the economic, social and cultural value of cinemas. Meetings also focused on opportunities and challenges facing cinemas, linked to theatrical exclusivity, territoriality of copyright, Creative Europe MEDIA Programme, piracy, AI, the Audiovisual Media Services Directive and Sustainability. This Outreach Day provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue between European policymakers and the cinema sector, ensuring that the voices of cinemas are heard in the ongoing policy discussions.
