From Poland, Tomasz Jagiełło (CEO and President of Helios S.A.), Oldrich Kubista (Director of Operations and Board Member at Cinema City Poland), and Magdalena Lewicka (Management Board Member at MULTIKINO S.A.) shared insights into the current challenges faced by Polish and European cinemas.
From Italy, Mario Lorini (President) and Mario Mazzetti (Executive Officer) of the National Association of Cinema Operators (ANEC) did the same from the Italian perspective.
Throughout the day, our members engaged with MEPs across political groups to raise awareness on key policy areas and underlined the cultural, economic, and social significance of cinemas in Poland and Italy. They emphasised the importance of protecting theatrical exclusivity, reinforcing the territoriality of copyright, and maintaining strong support for the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme. They also touched on the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD), digital transformation, and sustainability. These Outreach Days strengthened the dialogue between European policymakers and two of Europe’s most dynamic cinema markets, reaffirming the vital role of cinemas in the European film ecosystem.
