Eurocinema, Europa Distribution, and UNIC Host Exclusive Screening of Traffic at Cinéma Palace

On 24 March 2025, Eurocinema, Europa Distribution, and the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) together hosted an exclusive screening of Traffic at Cinéma Palace in Brussels. The event welcomed film industry colleagues and policymakers, providing a unique opportunity to experience this acclaimed film on the big screen.

Traffic, directed by Teodora Ana Mihai, is a compelling Romanian-Belgian-Dutch dramedy that explores themes of immigration, social divides, and cultural differences between East and West. The film features Anamaria Vartolomei, who won the César for Most Promising Actress in 2022, and was scripted by Cristian Mungiu, winner of the Palme d’Or in 2007. After its premiere at the 40th Warsaw Film Festival, where it won the Grand Prix in the International Competition, Traffic is set to be released in Belgium at the end of April and later this year in Romania.

Laure Galtier from UNIC opened the evening, emphasising the significance of the cinematic experience. She highlighted the collective and immersive nature of watching films on the big screen, stating, "There is nothing like the experience of 'feeling together,' of discovering new films together, and of opening our minds to other cultures." She also underscored the importance of supporting key principles such as the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme and preserving the territoriality of copyright to sustain a thriving film industry.

The screening was co-organised by Eurocinema and Europa Distribution, reflecting the collaborative spirit within the film industry. As Laure Galtier noted, "We are all part of the same value chain, working towards the same goal: bringing diverse stories to audiences. Cinemas couldn’t do it without our colleagues in production and distribution. Thanks to their economic, social and cultural contribution, cinemas stand at the intersection of competitiveness, democracies and culture."

We extend our gratitude to Eurocinema, Europa Distribution, and Cinéma Palace for hosting this memorable evening. We thank Lumière as co-producer and distributor of the film and a special thank you to all attendees who joined us for this exceptional screening.
We look forward to welcoming you to our next event in Brussels—stay tuned!
